Jeremy Kay in Los Angeles - Screen International - 25 July 2006
Producers representative Page Ostrow has closed an international distribution deal for Bernard Murray's teen comedy The Surfer King with Los Angeles-based MarVista Entertainment.
MarVista will handle international theatrical, television and video distribution on the story, which stars Lindsay Wagner, Randy Wayne, Ben Ziff, Alan Thicke, and Cerina Vincent.
The Surfer King charts the exploits of a 17-year-old who secures a summer job at an amusement park near his new Colorado home and helps colleagues bid for an employee trophy.
Murray wrote and directed the feature, and produced with Robbie Repola, Joe Adams and Ostrow. Mark Raymonds and Brian Reichel served as executive producers.
"We're thrilled MarVista is on board to distribute this funny teen gem and look forward to bringing this film to audiences everywhere," Ostrow said.
The Ostrow and Company founder and president has arranged financing and negotiated distribution for more than 125 features and documentaries.
MarVista's home entertainment label is set to launch in September with a line-up that includes comedy Running With The Hitman starring Mercedes Ruehl, and Absolute Zero, which stars Jeff Fahey and Erika Eleniak.
